Deleting your Zarmo account and data
Zarmo · Himanshu Kumawat (Sarmonic) · com.sarmonic.zarmo
Zarmo is an expense tracker for iOS and Android, published by Himanshu Kumawat trading as Sarmonic. This page covers two separate things: deleting your whole account, and deleting individual records while keeping it. Both are things you do yourself in the app — nothing here needs my approval or a waiting period.
Delete your account and everything in it
- Open Zarmo and unlock it with your PIN or biometrics.
- Open Settings — the last item in the tab dock.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm at both prompts. The second one is the point of no return: Yes, delete everything.
Deletion runs straight away. There is no grace period and no way to restore the account
afterwards, so export a backup first if you want to keep your records —
Settings → Backup & Data → Export backup writes an encrypted
.zarmo file you keep.
What this deletes
- On your device: every expense, every stored receipt document (photos, PDFs and spreadsheets alike), your currency conversion history, your learned merchant list, your saved preferences and your PIN.
- On my servers: your Firebase Authentication record — the name, email address and account id your sign-in created — and your usage record in Firestore, which holds your plan and scan counters. Nothing else about you is stored server-side, so nothing else remains to delete.
- In your own cloud account: the Zarmo sync file and its receipt documents, in your Google Drive app-data folder or your iCloud container. The app deletes these first, before the account itself.
What is kept, and for how long
Nothing, and no retention period: once deletion completes I hold no record of you. Receipt text and images sent for scanning were only ever processed in passing and never stored, so there is no archive of them to erase — the privacy policy describes that path in full.
Two copies can outlive the account, and both are in your hands rather than mine:
- Any
.zarmobackup file you exported yourself. It is on your device or wherever you saved it; delete it like any other file. - The cloud sync file, if the app could not reach your cloud account at the moment you deleted. That step is best-effort by nature — the file lives in your account, not mine — and account deletion goes ahead regardless. You can remove it yourself: Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → Zarmo → Delete hidden app data, or on iPhone Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Zarmo.
If you have already uninstalled the app
Email support@sarmonic.com from the address you signed in with, asking for your account to be deleted. I match the address to the account and delete it by hand, normally within a few days and at most 30 days from the request, then reply to confirm. That removes the server-side records above; anything still on a device goes when the app is uninstalled, which I have no way to reach.
Delete some of your data without deleting your account
You do not have to close your account to get rid of records. Everything below is available in the app, takes effect immediately on the device, and — while cloud sync is on — removes the record from your cloud copy and your other devices on the next sync, rather than hiding it on one of them.
- One expense: swipe the row left on the dashboard or in Search, then tap Delete and confirm.
- A whole scanned bill: swipe the receipt card left and tap Delete All. To remove single lines instead, tap the card to expand it and delete them individually.
- The document attached to a bill, keeping the expense: open the bill, tap Edit, tap the bill image beside the title, then Remove. The file is deleted from the device, and from your cloud account on the next sync.
- A learned merchant name: Settings → Backup & Data → Manage merchants, then delete any entry in the list.
- Everything on this device, keeping the account: Settings →
Sign out. Every expense, conversion, merchant and receipt document is wiped from
local storage. With cloud sync on, that data is still in your own cloud account and returns
when you sign in again; with it off, the device held the only copy, so the app warns you and
offers the
.zarmoexport before it completes. - Stop syncing, and remove the cloud copy: turn off Settings → Backup & Data → cloud sync. Nothing further is uploaded, and the app keeps working entirely on local storage. Switching it off does not delete the file that is already there — remove that yourself, by the Drive or iCloud route above.
